HAPPY AUGUST EVERYONE!! Its officially the last month of summer...enjoy it!!

Since we are spending our week at the lake, I thought it would be fitting to share with you a camp themed card I created for the August 2012 issue of CARDs magazine. I am so ecstatic to have 3 of my cards featured in this issue, its an accomplishment that I am quite proud of!!

For this project, I used all October Afternoon: Campfire products and loved the final result!!

I tried scanning in the actual page from the magazine but my scanner didn't realize it wasn't the weekend anymore and didn't want to wake up and help me out. Suffice it to say, my submission photo will just have to do ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great Wednesday everyone!!

He & She

Recently, my very good friends, Jenn & Matty, let me in on their biggest news to date: they're having their first baby!! We had talked about babies last year and I knew they were going to start trying in the near future but when she told me she was 3 months along, I was still surprised and very happy for them!! I met Jenn and her then boyfriend Matty 7 years ago when I moved to Victoria, BC and started working in the same office as her. We hit it off immediately and became fast friends that hung out all the time together. When I made the decision to move back home, I knew our friendship would last because every time we talked or saw each other, it was as though no time had passed at all!

Jenn is due in October and has yet to decide whether or not they will find out the sex of their baby but I still wanted to send them a congrats card, even though I haven't made a card for anyone in quite some time! And since yellow happens to be my favorite color PLUS a gender neutral color..I made a card in full out yellow goodness ;)

I used all Papertrey Ink supplies for this card. Cardstock & ink are both Lemon Tart

This sentiment stamp is one of my favorites!! I love the design, the font choice...everything!!

Of course it wouldn't be a card from me without some glitter on it, now would it? I ran the strip of Vintage Cream card stock, stamped with Lemon Tart hearts thru my Xyron sticker maker a coated it in Martha Stewart glitter before adhering my buttons...LOVE!!

I sent this card off to them about a week ago..hope they love it!! Have a great Thursday everyone!!

Frosty Morning & a Card

Hey Everyone!!

Can you believe its almost February?!? I've hardly settled in to January!! We woke up this morning to the most beautiful sunrise, followed by a thick frost that covered the trees, making it truly a winter wonderland :)

Our morning view

The lovely frost

And, because VDay isn't far away..I have been busy creating little love notes and greeting cards to celebrate the special day..this card is of no exception ;)

I heat embossed the lacy heart with white embossing powder, then die cut a heart out of white cardstock, stamped it with a gingham pattern and adhere it on top. Then I stamped PTI's Bkgd Basics: Hearts sentiment in black ink, followed by some dotted flourishes and arrows in Pure Poppy ink. The final addition were these mini white hearts die cut from felt...warm & cozy!! Gotta love that ;)

Happy Crafting Everyone!

Together Forever

Hey Everyone!!

Back at the inlaws ;) So here comes another post!! Today I was able to spend the afternoon in my studio and get some crafty goodness off my desk. While most of my creations are for submission to publications, I did create a special goodie just for the ol blog 'o! Since today marks just one month til Valentine's Day, I thought I would create a sweet little something for you...

All products used today (minus the Divine Twine: Valentine ) are from Papertrey Ink ;)

I loved Conversation Hearts as a child and thought this card was a cute nod to the mini sweets I always enjoyed as a little girl. Have you started your Valentines yet? I'd love for you to link them to me so I can see them!! Have a great weekend everyone. Happy Crafting!!

love,

Friday Randoms

Morning Everyone!!

It has been feeling more and more like Spring lately here..til of course we woke up to more snow on the ground this morning ..

..UGH!

But thankfully there isn't too much and it'll melt by noon with the warm temps we've been getting! What are your plans for this weekend? I'll be home - cleaning, purging and creating!! I am working hard on my Holiday Cards & More submissions (due on April 25th!) fingers crossed I can pull it off and get published again!! (One of my 2011 resolutions!)

Other than that, here are a few other random happenings in my life:

- I have a sick puppy (again). Came home to another mess in my basement yesterday and quite a few bathroom runs during the middle of the night! I'm keeping my fingers crossed he'll be alright while I'm at work today :(
- There are 211 more days left til I'm a Mrs ;)
- Further to my previous comment, I'm having a little trouble with my inevitable name change in Fall - do I hyphenate my name? Or completely drop my maiden name? Hmmm
- We are having our annual family Easter Egg Hunt on the 24th again this year and I am so, so SO excited! I love our family gatherings..traditions are good for the soul!
- Since I am working on submissions for PC's Holiday Idea book, I figured I needed to get in to the Christmas spirit so popped in my favorite holiday cd .. Adam found this rather hilarious and now I am wondering if I in fact do the love the holidays a tad too much?!

Other than that .. my life is crazy, busy and very exciting!! I am looking forward to a productive weekend and I hope you have a wonderful one yourselves!! with that, I'll leave you with a wedding card a created last month for one of the many weddings we have coming up this summer!

All products used are Making Memories :)

Happy Crafting Everyone!

Happy World Card Making Day!!

It's here!! World Card Making Day!!

I've been making cards for quite a few years but, sadly, this is the first year I've ever participated in the great event that celebrates crafty card makers all over the world! Last time I checked there was 115 amazing participants on the list, I am lucky #71!!

Since this event kicks off the holidays card making "season", I decided to create a Christmas card with my favorite holiday image..the snowman =)

Isn't this card fun? I LOVE the bright colors and the happy lil snowman...so cute! I made my card base out of Kraft CS and used my all time favorie MME DP that I bought in a jumbo paper pad at Michaels last December

The snowman image is from Impress and the sentiment is from PTI's "Made of Snow". I stamped both in PTI's Raspberry Fizz ink and filled in the strips of his scarf with Fruit Punch Stickles

And to celebrate this paper crafting holiday, I'm having a give away! To enter, please leave a comment below before 12:00 am GMT on Oct 4, 2010.

I'm officially in the holiday card-making spirit!! How are you doing with your holiday cards? Thank you so much for stopping by my little corner of the blog world..can't wait to see what everyone else is creating!! Have a great Saturday everyone..Happy Crafting!!

25th

Happy First Day of Fall!!

I don't know what the changing of the season's look like in your part of the world but here in Alberta the trees are slowly turning golden with hints of red & orange. I keep telling myself to get out and take pictures..hopefully tomorrow the sun will come out a little and not rain on me and my camera for once! I'll be sure to post my pictures...if I ever get around to taking them!!

I've been busy making a few holiday cards here and there and this is one of my absolute favorites as of late..

The image is from Crafty Secrets, DP is October Afternoon

My favorite addition to this image was the Flower Soft I added to Santa's hat and cuffs..just added some magic to the image, don't you think? Then to give it even more Christmas magic I added this sweet little jingle bell..

The colors of this card are fresh but seasonal..I'm really in to the aqua and red lately..I've been seeing it everywhere!! What are your favorite color combo's? I'm off to my studio to see what else I can make with all the goodies that have been coming in..happy crafting everyone!!

Boo!

We're getting well into September already and Halloween products are lining the store shelves! I can feel the crispness in the air and my thoughts go to pumpkins & black cats and witches riding brooms! The first day of Fall is still 2 weeks away, but I might start decorating for Fall before that (hey it never hurts to start anything early!) With that comes a few new fun Halloween/Autumn cards that I have up in my Etsy shop..one being this fun one from Crafty Secrets

I just love this image, SO cute & fun!!!

I used a chipboard frame from Tattered Angels and popped out the fonts to create the word "Boo"

I'll be putting up a few more holiday cards in my Etsy shop as the week progresses, but after that all that's really left is decorating my home and convincing myself that no, I do not need to buy a box of 50 Halloween chocolate bars for "the trick or treaters" when really, I know I'll eat them all myself ;)

Spooky

Happy September 1st Everyone!!

There is a definite chill in the air, the Michael's aisles are filled with witchy goodness and I'm in heaven! September to December is the most wonderful time of year to me and this year will be no different! Sorry its been a little quiet on the blog lately, I was away on holidays (harvesting & family reunion) but now I'm back and the holiday cards keep coming out of me!!

Today, I'm showcasing a favorite Halloween card of mine made from Graphic 45 Halloween papers, Crafty Secrets image and some googly eyes that watch over you..

So much to love about this card, its vibrant and vintagey and just a little bit spooky..

This card actually reminds me of a missed photo op that I didn't take 2 October's ago. I was on my way to work, early in the morning, driving down a beautiful street full of yellow and orange fallen leaves and there, sitting on the sidewalk was a beautiful black cat just staring at me in the midst of all this. I thought to myself, "What a perfect shot for Halloween". But I didn't have my camera and I didn't take the photo..and now it's something I'll always regret!!

Have you started any Halloween projects yet? Happy Crafting everyone!!

Autumn Splendor

Something was off this morning when my alarm woke me up..the sun wasn't up! There was a strange chill in the air, a dampness from the rain during the night and when I looked out my window I saw my first yellow leaf! Now, I'd like to tell you that the sight of this little guy scared the heck out of me, but I'd be lying :) You see, you can't get more of a Fall lover than me and when I saw this I knew that pumpkins and mums in every color would soon be following and, well, that just makes me giddy!!

So, last night I sat down at my desk to create a few cards for my Etsy shop, I had no real plan in mind but quickly I realized I wanted an Autumn-inspired card and this is what came out of it. I absolutely LOVE it!! It's warm and cozy and the colors remind me of walking down an orange & yellow leafy lane in October

I used DP from Recollections (Michaels), CS from PTI, vintage image from my stash a sweet paper doilie and, my personal favorite, these wonderful fabric leaves I found last year!!

Now I'm off to Calgary with my mom to see Michael Buble in concert tonight..I'm very, very excited about this!! But, I'll be back on Friday with something of a jingle bell variety ;)Until then... Happy Crafting everyone!!

Celebrate Today

Brace yourselves...I'm actually about to post a card!! I know, I know..it's pretty amazing :) Actually the truth is this move has gotten my daily routine out of whack and I am only now figuring out how to go about a "normal" day, and this includes figuring out my computer and downloading photo's etc..but I think I've got it all figured out, so...on to the card!

As mentioned last week, I was able to dig around the boxes and create a homespun greeting card for my mom's birthday over the weekend. Lately I'm all about vintage, shabby-chic and homespun designs..and nothing says homespun to me more than gingham!!!
The cardbase is made out of PTI's Simply Chartreuse CS and DP is from October Afternoon ( I love this stuff!!)

There were a few different stamps sets used to complete the card, the french writing stamped on the background paper (see top photo) is from 7 Gypsies (Avignon), the jar and label are from PTI's Friendship Jar (die cuts too!!) and the ledger in the middle on kraft is PTI's Library Ledger.
To finish off the card I tied PTI's cream twine around the card and topped it with a beauty of a flower from Prima..so, what do you think? Have a great weekend everyone and happy crafting!

And they lived happily ever after...

Happy Wednesday everyone!!

We are in the midst of a Spring storm here..its been snowing since early yesterday morning and now its finally changed to a steady rainfall. Its amazing how one week I am mowing the lawn for spring cleaning and the next week I'm shovelling!! But, I have to remind myself that all this moisture is going to make for an amazingly green lawn in no time!!

One of my oldest, dearest friends recently became engaged and of course, I had to make her a congratulatory card! At first I was going to go more elegant (think damask, black & white) but then I found my newest Websters pages DP and knew that a softer, more romantic feel would be perfect...

The card has a very vintage, soft, romantic feel that I'm absolutely in love with and Prima flowers have taken over my card making stash, aren't they beautiful?

The Prima pearls are another favorite of mine and the best thing is that its easily cut, if need be! This particular shape was just a smidgen too big for my card so I made a few nips and tucks and voila! Pearl/floral perfection!

I used Webster's Journal card for the "Dear Sweetheart" sentiment, but wanted to add something more so brought out my sentiment from PTI's Big and Bold Wishes stamp set, which was stamped in PTI's Dark Chocolate ink

And that, my friends, is an uber romantic engagement card for an uber romantic couple!! Have a great evening and Happy Crafting!!

CS: (Vintage Cream) Papertrey Ink

Ribbon: (Vintage Cream) Papertrey Ink

Cuddles and Tickles

This has been the most extraordinary and exciting day/week/month of my life! I can't fill you all in just yet about all the latest "happenings" but I will update you on the new house 'news'..I have spent more money this last week on lawyers fees, down payment, hook up fees and property taxes then I ever have in a 7 day period!! No one said it was easy getting in to your first home but let me tell you that to this day I still believe it will all be worth it! Two weeks today and I get the keys to my house..I can't wait to show you my new castle ;)

Other than that I have been fighting a cold (seems like everyone is these days) and getting photos printed for my scrapbooks that I plan on working on this upcoming weekend!! Is there really anything better than planning an entire weekend to scrapbook/create?!?!

Speaking of creating, I have yet another vintagey baby card that I'm in love with to show you..

I used more DP from Melissa Frances as well as a sentiment from PTI's Inside & Out: Baby set. Vintage baby buggy as seen in this post is from Paper Source
I stamped the sentiment onto Vintage Cream CS from PTI with Dark Chocolate ink and then inked the edges up with PTI's Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo. Then I used my oval and scalloped oval nesties and used a pop dot in behind for a little more "oomph" ;)
To finish off the card I tied PTI's Vintage Cream silk ribbon around the base then finished it off with PTI Twine, a Vintage Button and a Melissa Frances glittered chipboard heart...ahhh, I can smell that new baby smell already ;)
That's all for tonight my friends..its been an amazing day for me today and now I'm off to rest this very sleepy head!!
Happy Crafting!

Tiny Yawns & Sleepy Sighs..

Happy Monday everyone!
I hope you all had an amazing weekend! We had some beautiful weather up here, it definitely feels like Spring now. I love that as my alarm goes off at 6 in the morning, its light out and I can hear the birds chirping..the street sweepers are out collecting the gravel they laid down on the icy roads and our tulips and daffodils have broke ground already!! YAY!!! Finally!!
With Spring comes another season I like to refer to as "Baby season" ..expectant mothers can be seen everywhere and a few friends and relatives are included!! With that being said, I decided to take out some of my sweet Melissa Frances papers and make a few new baby cards that melt my heart...

This image is from a stamp I picked up at Paper Source while visiting Seattle this past Fall..its detail is amazing and I love the vintage feel it gives the card!! The sentiment is from Amuse...
I used PTI's Tea Duo Ink cubes to give the card an aged look and stamped both the image and sentiment in PTI's Dark Chocolate ink
To finish off the card I used Melissa Frances' Glittered Chipboard Hearts, PTI's Spring Rain Vintage Buttons and PTI's ribbon in Vintage Cream...now I just need a new baby boy!!
Have a great day everyone!! Happy Crafting!

Its Almost Here..

The windows are open all over the house, the sun is shining and the birds are chirping..Spring is almost here, I can feel it! I love the changing of the seasons..it brings a fresh change to our lives and I always feel so hopeful about what just lies ahead on the horizon!

Today has been a very quiet Sunday in the Petrick house.. I have been making cards to refill my stash and I'm so excited to share these with you in the coming days! My first card is a new one for Easter..and I have to tell you, I'm just loving the vintage supplies lately!!

For this card, I brought out my Crafty Secrets Easter Creative Scraps as well as Making Memories' Garden Party paper line that was released 2 years ago and is by far still my favorite to this day for Spring crafting!!

This card just says "Spring" to me! The colors, the image..it just makes me incredibly happy ;)

I used Papertrey Ink's Lemon Tart cardstock for the card base, ribbon and buttons (as well as a Ripe Avocado button to tie on the ribbon).

I will be posting this card on my Etsy shop soon so if you are interested in owning this cutie, you can find it here! Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!!

Happy Crafting!

You Light Up My Life..

Happy Wednesday everyone!!!

Are you all ready for Valentine's Day this Sunday?? I was busy in my studio last night making a few last minute goodies and I have to admit, I really love all the red and pink thats in my house right now..it just makes me ridiculously happy! I have quite a few projects to show you this week but for today its another card made with Impress images..

Both the lamp and the sentiment can be found online at Impress, while the cardstock and patterned paper are both from PTI...don't you just love their new Valentine's Day paper pad? Its gorgeous!

And then, because I can't seem to get enough of the Martha Stewart glittered chipboard hearts, I added a couple to the lower half of the card...they just remind me of a sugared candy..and really, isn't that what Valentine's Day is all about?? ;)
So what are your plans for Valentine's Day? Tomorrow night I will be baking Red Velvet cupcakes to bring to my office on Friday .. (this will be my first attempt at these kind of cupcakes, so keep your fingers crossed for me!!) Then this weekend I will be going to the movies with my mom to watch "Valentine's Day" , have you seen the previews for this? It looks so good and I cannot believe how much star power they have!!
But I should get back to work here..so have an amazing day and I will be back tomorrow!!

Sending Sweet Thoughts..

When I saw this set from Stampin Up, I knew I would soon be calling it mine! I loved all 3 of the images it came with..one for Fall, one for Christmas and then of course this whimsically sweet one that is just perfect for Valentines Day...

I will be sending this sweet card off to a very good friend of mine in Victoria, BC..and I hope that I haven't missed the deadline for its safe and prompt arrival before next weekend!!

I used PTI's Pure Poppy for my base as well as some vintage sheet music I bought off of Etsy..I scored a lot of paper for very little..you just have to be patient ;) I then stamped my image onto Vintage Cream cardstock with Pure Poppy Ink and added a couple of Martha Stewart glittered chipboard hearts to boot!!

A very simple and sweet card today that just melts my cozy little heart :)
