4 on 4

Its the 4th day of April, can you believe it? Pretty soon the boys will be out in the field seeding and I will be out in my very own garden, planting away! I can hardly wait. January, February {and now} March have all flown by insanely quickly but as the days get longer and the nights get warmer, you won't hear any complaints from me!!

To mark the 4th day of April, I thought I'd let you in on 4 random tidbits:

1) I am receiving a very special delivery this weekend that I am absolutely giddy about. Any guesses? Here's a hint:
  a very noisy package will be shipped thru the post office to get this delivery to me..

2) We are about 10 days away from starting seeding..and things are starting to get crazy busy around here because of it!

3) The Titanic in 3D comes out today and I really, really want to go and see it!! Anyone else?!?

4) I went to my very first farm auction sale yesterday and loved it! Of course most of the day was kind of long and boring..but at the very end..I came home with these vintage creamers!! I {heart} them

Well Hello there March!!

I woke up with a spring in my step today knowing we are officially one month closer to Spring! Crop planning is in full throttle at our farm and while the boys dissect numbers, acres and seeds..I am daydreaming of fields of beautiful golden wheat swaying outside my deck...I LOVE this coming season!! And because we are sloowly moving in to Spring up here, I thought it would be a perfect day to keep track of my list of currents! And here we go:

Happy Feb 29th!!!

Hey Everyone!!

 Happy Leap Day!!! What are you all up to on your bonus day of February?! We woke up to a foggy, frosty morning..which is really quite beautiful!! All the trees were coated with a thick frost that sparkled in the sunshine!! Since then we have been going over our plans for this years farming season, quite possibly my favorite time of year! Planning all the crops we will plant, how many acres of each and where!! Boring for some, exciting for us :)

This weekend, my best friend brought her family out to our farm for the first time, and I was ecstatic! These were to be my very first guests since I moved to the farm myself in August and I couldn't wait to show them around. Her oldest, my god-daughter Makiya (3 1/2 years old!) asked her mommy on the drive out if we even had tv's out on the farm!! THREE AND A HALF PEOPLE!!! She just melts my heart :) Needless to say, we had a lot of fun activities planned for the weekend and might I mention not ONCE were the tvs on ;)

Then us adults got some shooting time in! I have never, ever held a gun before (thats me above!) but Jodie was adamant that we shot off a few rounds (she had never used a gun before either) so Adam instructed us on the safety tips of using guns, stacked up some pop cans and away we went!! It actually was a lot of fun!!!!

We had a blast with our friends this weekend and it meant so much to me that they came. They truly brought a little bit of "home" to the farm for me, and I could never thank them enough!! Now tomorrow is March (already?!?!) and we are off dreaming about the Harvest we will have this year..many exciting things coming up!!

February....Whew!!

Hey Everyone!!

Ummm...what happened to February?! I cannot believe how long it's been since I was more of a "regular" round here! As you can probably tell, we still do not have Internet at our place on the farm .. Adam is working on it as we speak and only a "teeny" bit frustrated, can't blame him of course ;)

But since I now have my very own IPhone, I can rejoin society, even if I am way out in the "boonies" as some have mentioned! Only problem: how do you upload photos on to blogger thru IPhone, any tips out there??

And since it truly has been a while since I have caught you all up on my life, here is a little February in Review:

On January 29th, Adam & I were off to Hawaii for a family vacation with his parents & aunt/uncle. This was my first time to Hawaii (or anywhere tropical!) and I fell in loooove...hard!

On February 4th, I celebrated my 28th Birthday with a day of sunshine and my very first luau, very awesome!!

On this trip I learned to snorkel, which was huge for me considering I have had a fear of water for years! (2 instances of near drowning does that to a person!) I was pretty proud of myself and soo happy to be back in the water!

On Feb 10th I received "happy mail" from the editor of Paper Crafts that a couple more of my cards are being published!! Eeek! I don't care if its your first or tenth email, it always makes me giddy!! On Feb 12th we flew home, only after I made Adam promise me we would be back next year ;)

On Valentine's Day, we went for dinner to our favorite restaurant (Tony Romas) and saw "The Vow"..anyone else see it yet? While I did like the film, I wanted more from it. The Notebook is still my favorite though..hands down!

On Feb 15th, we brought my baby home to the farm..FINALLY!! Unfortunately though, the resident farm dog, Simon was not to keen on Jakey being here and my lil man had to go home for a few weeks til we deal with Simons aggressive behavior :(

Since then, my brother in law and his girlfriend have been down to visit us and we're settling back in to regular farm life. I am getting ridiculously excited for Spring to arrive for farming to begin again...PLUS, I have a lot of plans of my own!! For instance: I'm getting chickens!! SO excited!! And I have been busy planning my first ever vegetable garden...I can't wait to get my hands dirty again :) Any one else desperate for Spring to arrive??

Frosty Morning & a Card

Hey Everyone!!

Can you believe its almost February?!? I've hardly settled in to January!! We woke up this morning to the most beautiful sunrise, followed by a thick frost that covered the trees, making it truly a winter wonderland :)

And, because VDay isn't far away..I have been busy creating little love notes and greeting cards to celebrate the special day..this card is of no exception ;)

I heat embossed the lacy heart with white embossing powder, then die cut a heart out of white cardstock, stamped it with a gingham pattern and adhere it on top. Then I stamped PTI's Bkgd Basics: Hearts sentiment in black ink, followed by some dotted flourishes and arrows in Pure Poppy ink. The final addition were these mini white hearts die cut from felt...warm & cozy!! Gotta love that ;)

Something to Ponder..

Have you ever wondered what your "thing" was in life? Have you found it? Searched for it? Struggled to get it? Such a strange concept to imagine everyone has a "thing" in life, but, I truly do believe that we all possess the ability to create something..anything, that is unique to our being. As a young girl I would daydream of my future and the endless possibilities that it seemed to hold. And, while in college, I would be inspired by so many things but never fully understood how to carry it out to completion, be it a project, a business idea or anything in between. And, even today, I am still always wondering what exactly it is that I should/want to be doing in life.
I can spend hours online, searching thru inspiring blogs and telling myself I should be going out more and taking those beautiful photos I saw or creating that layout that made me get off my butt... but when I walk away to bring that motivation to my own life, I seem to lose the inspiration, why is that? Do you ever go through this in your own life?
So far what I have learned is that it is alright to keep working at figuring out who you are. It will always be healthy to work on yourself, grow, expand and learn something new. Through the growing phase its only natural to question your path but I know that it'll always work out, just the way it was supposed to. And if you yourself have questioned this exact same topic, please keep the following in mind:

Total & Utter Randomness...

Hey Everyone!!

I hope you all had an amazingly wonderful weekend!! Preferably in an area that did not get hit by that freak winter storm??!? (Okay yes, it is the middle of January..but you CANNOT drop 20 degrees in 1 day and not complain!!) I had plans of coming home to the city to visit my family yesterday but due to the storm, I stayed at the farm an extra night and came home today. Needless to say, I am missing my hubs back at the farm now but quite cosy in my old bedroom at the folks' house for a few days while I fill up on good 'ol city vibes ;)

Speaking of which, matter #1 I wanted to take care of was to stop by the photo centre where I have been sending all of my Project Life photos so I could get down to documenting my first 2 weeks of January..upon arriving at said photo centre I was informed that my photos were nowhere to be found..nowhere. Even though I received a confirmation email 5 days ago that my order was complete...nadda...ugh. So, I have resubmitted my order to a different photo centre and will be picking these up this week before returning home!! I really can't wait!
Any of you out there attempting PL without the Design A Photo Protectors?!? I have read that others are printing their photos and jotting down notes so that when the protectors are back in stock next month, they can begin documenting their PL...I don't know about you but I know myself and, if I don't work on it now, I never will!! So, with that in mind I have taken to writing down my notes in my daily agenda, plus sticking my photos in to a photo sleeve that holds 6 horizontal 4x6 photos to simulate the Design A protectors..giving me an idea of how it will actually look upon completion next month. I think this idea kind of rocks (definitely rocking my world) but...what are you doing til they are back in stock?!?
Speaking of Project Life, today while driving home on roads such as these:

I happened to look to my left and you will never guess what was flying next to my drivers side window:

Yup, a snowy owl!! Just flying right alongside me....how cool is that?!? I couldn't believe it!! I, of course, immediately called Adam to let him know what I had just experienced (he, of course, did not find it as life altering as I had, but thats okay). This experience is definitely going in my Project Life this week and although I did not take my own photo of him..I will definitely print one and add it to my album!

Although I haven't created a layout for PL yet, the photos, the documenting and the "being mindful of the everyday" have been amazing. I cannot wait to get our lives down on these pages to document and remember for the rest of our lives.

Its the 5th of May already! Can you believe it? Summer will be here before we know it {and judging from the exceedingly warm temps outside, I'd venture to guess sooner than we thought!} I'll be heading off to the farm tomorrow for the weekend and have much to do before then, but thought I'd stop in and share 5 randoms with you for the 5th day of the 5th month!!

Monday Randomness

Happy Monday Everyone!!

Hope all your weekends were fabulous :) I can actually say I really didn't do much Friday night or Sunday and Saturday I took a shopping road trip with some fabulous ladies to Calgary about 2.5 hours away .. it is always fun when us girls get together and hit the road..you never know what you'll end up talking about or who will makes us laugh the most, but I can definitely say this trip did NOT disappoint!

And since I have tons of new cards to showcase but not one on this computer to download..I leave you with some Monday randomness:

- It finally started acting like Spring this past weekend - but alas, it isn't to be just yet..there are snowflakes falling on the ground as I type  :(
- I think I'm having some major B12 issues lately..I'm always sleepy and have very little energy .. must. increase.dosage. ASAP!
- I haven't seen my beau in 8 days now and I miss him so very, very much ..damn you SK winter storms!
- I finally found my dream yellow purse at Winners the other day and quickly snatched it up..only to leave a nice blue ink mark on it shortly thereafter...any ideas how to get ink out of leather?!? PLEASE?!
- I lost 2 lbs last week .. *sigh* if only that were enough
- I'm intrigued by the thought of merging my two loves of cardmaking and photography - I'm not knowledgeable in Photoshop so could be interesting..but love thinking about possibilities!!

Well thats all the randoms I can pull out of my head today...have a great evening everyone!
